The invention provides a process for using poly(trimethylene terephthalate) as a rheology modifier to improve polyethylene terephthalate. By adding poly(trimethylene terephthalate) to polyethylene terephthalate, the invention can effectively reduce the shear viscosity of the polyethylene terephthalate melt and improve its rheological properties in the molten state. Meanwhile, poly(trimethylene terephthalate) and polyethylene terephthalate have good compatibility and spinnability. Adding an appropriate amount of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) can lower the spinning temperature of polyethylene terephthalate during spinning, achieving the beneficial effects of energy conservation and environmental protection. The fibers obtained after spinning exhibit good mechanical properties and dimensional stability.
